Happiness is Hard to Contain

I’ve always been a person that was thrilled when someone else found happiness.  But to be completely honest, no matter how happy I was for them, it always made the areas that my life was lacking in even more evident to me.

Now that I’m experiencing my own dance with happiness and hope I’m trying hard to keep it to myself.  I don’t want to be ‘that’ person that gushes romantic on Facebook or posts every romantic love song ever written on their blog or Twitter.  But no matter how hard I try, it appears that the excitement of a new relationship bubbles over without even trying.

So if I’m irritating you with my silly romantic-ness…I’m sorry!

Letting Go

How many times over the past 9 years have I told myself I just had to let go, that starting anew meant letting go of the fantasy? Easier said than done. I was good at pretending I wasn’t holding on. Hell, sometimes I actually did let go with one hand, reaching for the brass ring,… Continue Reading

Thanks for Thanksgiving

The holidays for me begin with Thanksgiving. In fact, believe it or not, I remember when you never saw a single Christmas decoration until Thanksgiving or after. Shocking if you consider that now we’re lucky if they wait until the end of September, right? The Thanksgiving excitement began at school. Yup, the whole holiday thing… Continue Reading

The Writing Project

I know it looks like I’ve been a horrible slacker in the writing department. Especially after I said I was going to do better. But I have been writing and I’m not going to give you the ‘business’ excuse. You see, I suddenly decided I was going to attempt to write something every day for… Continue Reading

In My Backyard

Hickory, North Carolina is a great little city. It’s literally 5 minutes from my house.  And it’s been in the national news for the past month. Sadly, not for any of its great points, but for a horrible tragic thing.  The disappearance of Zahra Baker. It’s so incredibly senseless and sad. But it’s also made… Continue Reading

Halloween; The Candy, The Frights & Lights…Oh My!

I bought candy in preparation for next week’s Halloween Trick or Treater deluge.  I bought mini chocolate bars in five…no wait…six different flavors (and my neighbors now tell me that if it doesn’t rain I’ll probably need more) and a bag of Tootsie-pops. Of course, being like most other Americans, I’m on a diet, so… Continue Reading

Leave Tom Brady’s Hair Alone!

You’re lucky I didn’t do a whiny ass video to go along with the title of this post. (You know, ala Chris Crocker?) It seems that everyone from former teammates (Randy Who?) to snotty nosed teen idols have something to say about Number 12′s ‘do. Personally, I don’t care if he starts using Head &… Continue Reading

Hatred in the Name of the Lord?

If you’ve read my last post, you’ve also noticed that I received a comment on it from an individual that didn’t agree with my belief in teaching acceptance of others differences.  I really wanted to just delete the comment. But then I got thinking about the fact that the attitude expressed in that comment was… Continue Reading

It’s Never Too Early to Teach Acceptance

Working from a home office gets pretty quiet most days. That’s why lots of mornings I have the Today Show going in the background.  And I do mean background, since I’ve moved my desk so that the TV is behind me.  But just hearing those human voices alleviates the silence. Today there was a story… Continue Reading

Abandonment, Trashy Novels and Other Life Happenings

I’m pretty sure I’m writing this post to myself.  Why? Because having pretty much abandoned my small but intensely loyal readership here, who could blame them all for leaving me?  Certainly not me.  Let’s just say, running a business isn’t leaving me much time to do think about personal stuff, much less write about it….
